PT KONTAK PERKASA FUTURES - Move over, Hellcat, there’s a new horsepower king in town. The 800-hp Yenko 2017 Chevrolet Corvette was unveiled earlier to a small group of media at an event held at the headquarters of Classic Industries, a Southern California-based purveyor of restoration and aftermarket parts for Chevrolet and Mopar muscle cars.Built by Tom’s River, New Jersey-based Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE), which uses the famous Yenko name under license, this car starts life out as a conventional Corvette Grand Sport. SVE then increases the LT-1 V-8s displacement from 6.2 liters to 6.8 (or 416 cubic inches, if you prefer Imperial units), replacing a number of the components in the process; SVE’s version is fitted with a forged steel crankshaft, forged aluminum pistons, and CNC ported and polished cylinder heads.
Topping things off, literally and figuratively, is a 2.9-liter twin-screw supercharger fed by the fuel system from the LT-4 V-8 found in the Corvette Z06. In all, SVE’s creation is good for 800 hp and 750 lb-ft of torque — and can be had with both transmissions offered by Chevrolet in the Grand Sport, a seven-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic. Aside from the engine, the rest of the Yenko modifications appear to be purely cosmetic. Yenko badges are added throughout the exterior, interior, and are even found on the brake calipers, just to make sure everyone knows it’s a Yenko. SVE will unveil the Yenko Corvette to the public at the 2017 Barret-Jackson Scottsdale sale. The package costs $46,000 on top of the cost of the Grand Sport itself. It can be had with the coupe or convertible, but just 50 will be built, so get your orders in to SVE now. Unless you live in California, in which case you’re out of luck as this Yenko, unsurprisingly, does not meet the state’s strict emissions regulations, most likely because SVE was unwilling to pay for CARB certification for such a small run of aftermarket engines. PT KONTAK PERKASA - Victoria Beckham is the latest celebrity to hop on the letter-to-my-younger-self bandwagon (even our very own Health editors have participated in the trend). In the January issue of British Vogue, Beckham penned a letter chock-full of advice to her teenage self. In the piece, she suggested keeping a diary of her favorite moments to look back on, celebrating her own and others' uniqueness, and having fun with clothes (an obvious choice for the one and only Posh Spice).
Beckham also told her younger self to not "mess with your boobs." She wrote that, looking back, it was a sign of insecurity. "Just celebrate what you’ve got," she told her 18-year-old self. This isn't the first time Beckham has alluded to her breasts and cosmetic procedures related to them. In 2014, she first revealed she had her implants removed during an interview with Allure. "I don't have them anymore," she told the magazine. "I think I may have purchased them." Then, when asked if her implants were removed she said yes, but not because of pain-related issues. We may not know the reasoning behind the British star's removal, but she isn't the first (or the last) person to have her breast implants removed. In fact, Health ran a major feature on the growing trend of the un-boob job in November 2015. The article cites that in 2014 almost 24,000 women said so long to their fake boobs. According to Janette Alexander, MD, a plastic surgery medical officer in the FDA's division of surgical devices, silicone implants aren't built to last and many women become tired of the upkeep required. "Implants are not lifetime devices—the longer a woman has them, the more likely it is that she will need additional surgery, which could include replacement or removal," she told Health in the feature. This could mean multiple surgeries and thousands of dollars spent throughout your lifetime if you elect to keep your implants. Besides inconvenience, women have also elected to remove their implants due to back pain, an implant rupture, or simply being unable to perform certain tasks. "I was unable to do an unmodified push-up without feeling like my boobs were about to explode," said one fitness instructor of her own now-removed implants. Electing to get implants is always a personal decision, but taking note of these factors could change the minds of people who are considering the procedure in the first place. Terry has struggled for game-time under Antonio Conte after an early-season injury and a move by the Italian to play three at the back, with Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Cesar Azpilicueta appearing to be his preferred starting defenders. Kurt Zouma also returned to first-team duty at the weekend in Chelsea's 4-1 FA Cup win over Peterborough, while Terry was sent off in the 66th minute of the third-round tie. It was his first Blues start since the EFL Cup clash with West Ham on October 26. As a result, the 36-year-old is now suspended for Saturday's Premier League clash away to champions Leicester City after the one-game ban was upheld on Tuesday. Bournemouth had Chelsea's Nathan Ake on loan for the first half of the campaign before he was recalled by the Stamford Bridge side after some impressive performances. Terry has spent his entire career at Chelsea apart from a loan spell with Nottingham Forest in 2000 when he was 19. Eddie Howe's side also agreed a season-long loan deal with Arsenal for midfielder Jack Wilshere, who has enjoyed a run of games after previously suffering with injuries. At its best, the show serves as a jumping-off point for the technologies, products, and services we’ll see throughout the year. At its worst, it functions as a dumping ground for bad ideas and garbage products. At the show this week, Griffin Technology debuted a smart toaster as part of their new Griffin Home initiative. In fairness to Griffin, a smart toaster is the kind of fusion device you might expect from a mythological lion-eagle hybrid with no opposable thumbs, seven hit dice, and a brain the approximate size of a heavily mutated walnut. I’ll let the company explain from here: The next step in making mornings as streamlined as possible is the Connected Toaster, a full-featured digital toaster that helps users toast smarter. This Bluetooth-enabled smart toaster is controlled by a companion smartphone app to offer personalized settings for the perfect slice, every time. Connected Toaster is a two-slot toaster with digital temperature adjustment and settings for bread type, darkness, even gluten-free breads. Once you’ve dialed in your preferences, the app remembers how you like it. Connected Toaster links with other Griffin Home products for seamless integration into your daily routine. Hoo boy. Where to start? SCRAWWWW!When I was growing up, my parents had a toaster so old I think it might have been built by Jesus in his brief, unacknowledged foray into metalworking and electricity. Despite its age, it had an amazing feature — it could remember, without fail, precisely what setting you had used to toast bread previously. It even had a color-coded label above the lever, to tell you how toasty your toast would be, in colors ranging from “Irish person sunbathing” to “Not even both hands and a flashlight can save you now.” Now, I admit, this analog lever had some limitations. It could only remember one setting at a time and it had security flaws — a mischievous sibling could easily slide the lever to one extreme or the other and leave you fuming over your slightly crisped wheat bread or furnace-blasted hockey puck. Both issues could be solved by the application of the Mark I Eyeball and a post-it note for remembering which of your artisanal, free-range, quinoa-and-kale sorrow-loaves should be toasted at which setting.
The biggest problem with the Internet of Things, generally speaking, is that no one has figured out how to build products that actually do anything useful enough to justify their price tags or enormous security flaws. Silicon Valley has been a tremendous source of innovation over the past few decades, but not all innovations actually improve the product. And if that wasn’t enough, what use is a toaster with Bluetooth, given that Bluetooth’s effective range has been empirically measured as six feet less than you need it to be, no matter what the circumstances? No, Griffin. I demand my smart toaster use 802.11ad. Save the Bluetooth for the optional pairing with Apple’s AirPods, so I can record and listen to the sound of my bread toasting while I’m searching for apps to install on my toaster’s LCD. And maybe pack some LEDs in there while you’re at it. The current, Bluetooth-only version of this abomination will sell for $100.
