KONTAK PERKASA FUTURES - Nvidia pushed a new update for its Shield streaming device yesterday, with a number of new features and enhancements. At CES, the company had announced a refreshed Shield TV, with Google Assistant integration, 4K streaming support, an updated Games application, a small, plug-in microphone that tethers to the Shield (allowing the user to trigger Google Assistant from anywhere in the home), and an improved controller design. This latest software update will bring the full feature set of the recently unveiled Shield over to the older variant and updates the system to Android 7.0 (Nougat).
First, there’s a new Nvidia Games app replacing the old Shield Hub software. A short video demonstrating the new interface and layout for titles is below: The goal of the Nvidia Games app is to unify and simplify various methods of interfacing with your available games. Previously, games were handled according to type and accessed in one of three applications — Shield Games, GeForce Now (game rental and purchase) and GameStream (Nvidia’s game-streaming service). There are now more than 1,000 titles available on Shield TV, and they’ll be handled in this unified app going forward. This new update also delivers 4K HDR streaming from Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, provided you also have a TV that supports those features. There’s support for live video streaming from Nest cameras and dedicated apps for the NFL, Twitter for Shield TV, Comedy Central, Vimeo, and Viki. Recent apps are now accessible via a double-press of the home button, picture-in-picture capabilities are now available in supported Live Channels, and there’s a Pause / Play function now built-into the Shield remote (double tap the volume slider). Finally, the Shield can now write to attached USB or SD card storage, cast HBO Go streams, and supports 4.1, 6.1, and 8.1 speaker configurations in Plex. All in all, it’s a capable update for both older Shield models and the newer designs. The Android tablet and streaming markets have both lagged of late, but Nvidia’s hardware remains some of the best you can get for the money. The Tegra X1 SoC inside the Shield is actually a more powerful (albeit less portable) version of the same chip that will power the Nintendo Switch, and it packs enough performance for casual gaming in its own right, with additional horsepower and video streaming capabilities available from Nvidia’s other gaming and streaming services. When Nvidia launched its first Shield portable and even its Shield tablet, it wasn’t clear how much effort Nvidia would sink into the Android business, given that the segment has to be small potatoes compared with its gaming or workstation markets. Several years and significant feature updates later, Nvidia has proven it’s in the market for the long haul. Source : extremetech.com

PT KONTAK PERKASA FUTURES - As games evolved, and as the technology of the world allowed video games to evolve, the focus and potential of games evolved with it. While video games started out as a single player affair in most cases, they soon evolved into a two-player competition. Then, they evolved to allow up to fourpeople to play. Then once the internet was allowed to connect to games, it became about playing against anyone in the world, which lead to the arrival of MMOs. Which, not only became its own genre, but, also set the standard in many ways for how games are played.
But, as both MMO and single player games have evolved, a question began to arise. Is one better than the other? And, is one falling behind the other? For some, MMOs are actually a lot better than single player games for the simple reason that you can play with just about anyone has the game, regardless of where they are in the world. On the other hand, single player games are by definition, single. Meant to test ones skill, and one persons skill alone. So, have single player games fallen behind the MMO genre? Honestly? I don't think it's a fair comparison. Why? Because while it's true that MMOs have evolved greatly, and some are magnificent titles, there are some people who only prefer to play single player games. Also though, while MMOs like World of Warcraft, or the recent ArcheAge 3.0 skyrocket to popularity, you can easily say the same thing about titles like Mass Effect, or the original Assassins' Creed titles. Or how about Legend of Zelda? Which only in two cases had distinct mulitplayer features, yet the rest of the time is purely singleplayer. Breath of the Wild is primarily singleplayer, and is already being called a GOTY candidate without being out yet! Also, while MMOs have a lot going for it, just like any other game, they have faults. There are those who can't play MMOs because of the playstyle. A lot of have been turned off by the genre because of the need to be online to play them, or because of how they need to grind to get to do some of the better content. For single player games, that's not the case more times than not. And yes, you can play with friends or people around the world in MMOs. But what if you're having a bad day, and don't want to deal with other people, where do you go to? Single player games. In the end, as in all things, games are about preference, regardless of how far they've evolved. What do you want to play on this day at this time. What genres are the best? What ones are the worst? It's all up to you. Video games can be very easy to compare, yet very hard to compare at other times. To debate whether single player or MMO titles are better than one another is a true apples to oranges case in this writer’s mind. Both have pros, both have cons, so I say, if you enjoy either, or both...just enjoy playing them. Source : hai-online.com PT KONTAK PERKASA - Last August in Las Vegas, Rolls-Royce head of communications Richard Carter explained to me how important the Black Badge program would be for one of England’s oldest automakers. “It’s what we’ve got to do,” Carter said, noting that the ego-driven men buying Black Badges wanted “a youthful, expressive Rolls-Royce with boldness befitting of their lifestyle.” He specifically said “men” because no women had yet placed orders for a Black Badge … or so he thought.
“I had already put my order in prior to that,” says Marisa Mills over FaceTime as she waits to takes delivery of her Wraith Black Badge at Steve Foley Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in Northbrook, Illinois. “I had already paid my deposit at that point. I’m as badass as any guy, and I wrote that to them. I just wanted to make the record clear. And the response from Rolls-Royce was phenomenal. I haven’t had a Rolls-Royce, but I’ve been a lover of cars forever.” This is the first time that Mills — who owns an Aston Martin Vanquish, a Bentley Mulsanne Speed, a Cadillac Escalade, a Mercedes-Benz G550, a Mercedes-Benz S600 sedan, and a pair of Range Rovers — is seeing her new, blacked-out baby. “I can totally feel that my other vehicles are afraid and jealous of this car already. I haven’t driven it yet, and I’m already in love.” Last summer she and a friend, Larry, spec’d out a Wraith Black Badge with a couple of bespoke options, like black-chrome window surrounds and embroidered monograms for the head restraints. “This feels very different from anything else I have,” she says. As Mills gets behind the wheel of her new car, she says, “I like you. There’s a familiar vibe to you,” then asks my zodiac sign. As she starts up the Wraith, the illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy ornament rises out of the Wraith’s black hood, and Mills exclaims, “That’s awesome! I haven’t seen that yet.” I tell her to push the shiny black door button near the outside corner of dashboard. “I push a button, and the door just closes. Who knew?” A rep from Rolls-Royce asks if Mills would be interested in a $46,000 set of custom-built luggage for her Wraith, and she drowns him out by blasting Santana through the Bespoke audio system. The rep from Rolls-Royce laughs and then asks if I have any advice for Mills. I tell her to always take her shoes off before getting into the car, because only wearing socks when you drive a Rolls-Royce lets you fully enjoy the high-pile carpeting. “That’s actually great feedback,” she says. When I finally get the chance, I ask why she decided to buy Rolls-Royce Wraith Black Badge. “I’ve always looked at Rolls-Royces as classic, cool, sophisticated, luxurious. It’s everything I’m attracted to. This is one of my ‘epitome’ cars. It’s badass. This is the pinnacle car I’ve got.” Source : automobilemag.com This article originally appeared on Time.com. KONTAK PERKASA FUTURES - Smartphones can be a valuable tool for getting fit. They can count steps, play fitness videos, help us track our progress and connect us with workout buddies and coaches, both real-life and virtual. But when it comes to phone use during a workout, recent research suggests a few reasons to leave your device alone: Texting or talking on the phone while exercising can worsen your balance and workout intensity, according to recent research. One new study, published in the journal Performance Enhancement & Health, found that texting during exercise impacted balance and stability by 45%, compared to not using a phone. Talking on the phone made balance 19% worse—less than texting, but still significant enough to contribute to injuries, say the authors. “It could lead to you possibly falling off the treadmill, or if you’re walking outside, falling off a curb and rolling your ankle or tearing your ACL,” says Michael Rebold, lead author on both studies and assistant professor of integrative exercise science at Hiram College. Another study, published in Computers in Human Behavior last year, found that people who texted during a 20-minute workout spent almost 10 of those minutes in a low-intensity zone, and only seven minutes in high intensity. Those who worked out without a phone spent only 3 minutes in low intensity, and almost 13 minutes in high intensity. This might seem like common sense; it’s not news that cell phones distract us. But Rebold says he was a bit surprised by the extent to which cell-phone use messed with people’s performance. “The studies were done on college students, and you’d think that, being born in this digital age, they’d be able to multi-task somewhat better than that,” he says. “If we’re seeing these severe impacts even on younger generations, I can only imagine how older adults might be affected.” Both studies looked at very specific measures: One tested 45 people on balance platform, while the other tested 32 people on a treadmill. The researchers can only speculate as to how their findings may translate to other activities, but they say their studies call attention to the potential drawbacks of mixing exercise time with mobile screen time. The good news is that listening to music on a cell phone had no notable impact on balance, so exercisers should feel free to use their tunes, says Rebold. In fact, his earlier research has shown that listening to music during exercise can boost workout intensity and enjoyability. Just try to have your playlist planned out in advance, so you can avoid too much screen interaction while you’re actually moving. “Anything that distracts you from the task at hand, whether it’s texting or switching songs or entering info into an app, is going to take away from your performance and could potentially put you at risk for injury,” says Rebold. In other words, save your calls, texts, and any unnecessary fiddling until after your sweat session. And if the buzzing in your pocket is too tempting to ignore mid-workout, try leaving your phone behind. Source : health.com |
